Olympia Archeological Museum

After walking around the Archeological Site of Olympia, Greece, we visited the nearby Olympia Museum where artifacts that were removed from the site are on display. The last two photos show protective armor, three bronze Corinthian helmets dating from the end of the 6th to mid 5th century BC and the back section of a bronze cuirass (protective armor covering the torso). I have included a photo of the detailed description of the incised decorations on the cuirass below the photo.

Glad to see someone else takes photos in a museum...and these remains of sculptures are sort of sad since so much is missing. But it does show how talented the Greek artists were, and how their soldiers dressed.

I am always amazed that so many things of the past are still found. I wonder what people in the future will find of our belongings :)

I am happy to see that these artifacts were not looted as were so many others when these important sites were visited by various conquering forces throughout history.
