Old city cemetery
Some of the older graves located in Old City Cemetery, the oldest public cemetery in Tallahassee. The cemetery was established in 1841 when a violent yellow fever epidemic swept through the area and regulations were required to protect the public. At the time it was located outside the city's boundaries, but today it is very close to downtown and is considered a distinctive historic site.

...this looks a bit like the graves close to the beach in Maui.
Beautiful solid old gravestones. Thank heavens for modern day vaccines ✨
Those epidemics caused so much victims.
I've been reading about the history of epidemics here in the U.S.
Dam missed that one, loved to have visited it
Hello,
The gravestones are interesting. They remind me of a cemetery I saw while visiting Puerto Rico. Wishing you a happy day!
Gosto deste pormenor da Cidade de Deus, aproveito para desejar um bom Carnaval.

Beautiful site, even if the reason for it meant a lot of people's lives suddenly ended.
I like to see pieces of our history like this. and I do like to wander in old cemeteries, they are so much different than where my parents are buried.
fascinating history. We have enjoyed visiting Civil War era cemeteries in our travels. We have found so many stories to read and understand.
I like to browse old cemeteries. Their headstones are fantastic and reading them are interesting

That looks like a good place to see some historic grave sites.
I like the view.
What a sorrowful, yet interesting place. I enjoy walking through cemeteries. They are peaceful, usually have lots of birds, and you never know what you might find.
visiting old cemeteries is really surreal.
Great photo. I love taking photographs at cemeteries.
I like visiting old cemeteries. Reading the headstones are always interesting if they're readable.
We often forget that disease killed people in droves.
Some of those old graveyards tell fascinating - and sad - stories.
