Jameson Distillery Tour

We spent one of our afternoons in Dublin visiting the Jameson Distillery on Bow Street which was founded in 1780 by John Jameson. On our tour, we learned about Jameson's triple distillation process which sets it apart from Scotch whiskey (which is double distilled) and American whiskey (single distilled). The Jameson family motto is "Sine Metu" which means "without fear" and it is printed on every bottle. We got to taste some different types of whiskey for comparison purposes. I'm not a big whiskey fan, so that was not my favorite part, but I did try them all and I could taste the difference! After the tour we visited the Daily Grog counter for our choice of free drinks. The one I picked is in the last photo, Jameson and ginger ale with lime. I think I managed to drink about half of it, but my daughter finished hers off.

Wow, both an unusual adventure and a learning experience. I think my favorite is the big green bottle chandelier, it is gorgeous! The barrel scale is cool, too.

Oh, I love the bottle-chandelier.
Not a fan of whiskey, either - but I do love ginger, so healthy, too!
Great pictures!

I hear European beer (and candy) puts the american kind to shame.

Great photos from the tour. I would have had a hard time doing the tasting part. I'm not a fan of whiskey either. However, I would have enjoyed seeing how it's created.

My Irish roots are ashamed that I also don't like Irish whiskey...but maybe in a coffee after dinner. Great tour!

Love the predominantly green colour scheme Lois.. the way you had your whiskey in ginger ale would have been my choice also :)

That looked like a very interesting tour. I love to see how things are made. I'm not a whiskey drinker, well maybe a whiskey liqueur inside one of those tiny chocolate bottles ;)

I can pass on whiskey but I think it would be interesting to know how it's made and what sets one apart from another. I was tempted to take the Guinness tour but found other things to do instead.
