Cat therapy
Since falling and fracturing a bone in my right leg three weeks ago, I have been home a lot and sitting in my wheelchair. I try to keep my leg elevated as much as possible to reduce swelling. Whenever I have it propped up like this, my sweet kitty Cecelia curls up next to it and usually takes a nap. I have to admit it is quite comforting!

Glass House
I'm still not able to get out and take pictures, so here is a photo I found in my archives from last summer. This one was also not taken in Tallahassee, but in Lake Nona, which is south of Orlando, Florida and near where my daughter lives. The "Glass House" is a beautiful piece of installation art by Tom Fruin, a Brooklyn-based artist. You can read more about this stunning work here.
Update: My fractured leg seems to be healing nicely, but I'm still using a walker and wheelchair to get around since I cannot put any weight on it until my doctor says it is safe to do so. I go back to see him in three weeks, so hopefully I will get more good news then.

Bat house
I have posted pictures of this bat house before. I'm not sure the bats use it, because in all of the years it has been there, I have never seen any bats going in or out of it. Maybe I just haven't been there at the right time! It is located near a retention pond behind a local mall.
Update on me: The cat scan I had last week on my fractured leg came back good, so now I'm just taking it easy and trying to heal. I go back to my doctor next week for more X-rays. My almost 10 year old granddaughter is staying with me this week and she has been such a big help. I will hate to see her go back home next week!

Helicopters
Two helicopters in the sky over the Florida Capitol downtown. The lower one is a police helicopter that was circling the area while students from Margory Stoneman Douglas High School were holding a protest rally on the front steps of the Capitol. The other one is a news helicopter that was hovering overhead covering the event. I showed another closeup photo of the news helicopter a few weeks ago here.

Update on my broken leg: I went for a cat scan this week and am still waiting for my doctor to review it and determine if I need surgery. Hopefully that will not be the case. I'm getting a little used to not being able to do all of the things I want to do and am able to get around my house pretty well with a wheelchair. My daughter and two oldest grandkids are coming tomorrow from Orlando to visit and I'm excited about that!

Beach Ball
The plaque under this piece of art reads "MIAMI BEACH BALL by Romero Britto, a gift to the City of Tallahassee by Miami-Dade County Days, April 7, 2005". It sits downtown near the State Capitol.
Update on my blog break: I will probably be posting sporadically for a few weeks as I am unable to get out to take photos. Unfortunately last week I fell and fractured the bone (tibia) just below my right knee. I'm pretty much immobilized right now, so my laptop has become my best friend and I will have to make do with photos in my archives.
