One of the other places we visited in San Francisco was Chinatown. This is the oldest and most established Chinatown in North America and the largest Chinese enclave outside of Asia. In the first photo, you can see the famous Dragon's Gate entrance. There were so many beautiful things to see in the shops and they also had a parade while we were there, as shown in my video. It was a lot of fun!

I can imagine this is the best one any US city has
...what a colorful place.
The Chinees people have made a real China place overthere.
You had a delightful time and a terrific visual experience as well.
love these and the second one with the lanterns is amazing to me. would love to take the trip you did
do we have any...
...oh yeah...Little Havana.
And I've never been there.
Hello, I love the colorful Chinatown scenes. Looks like a fun place to visit.
Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week!
It looks exactly the same as when I was last there back in 2001. I loved the video. That little boy holding his ears was a cutie.
San Francisco has so many Chinese people because in the 19th century thousands were brought here to work on building the railroads and mine for gold. Thanks for this glimpse into a place I've often read about but never had the chance to visit. Looks full of energy. Are they selling fireworks? Love your parade video. Great fun!
How fantastic to visit this Chinatown! Just a riot of colour & shape!
The dragon's arch is my favourite!
Every city seems to have a China town Lois, this looks extensive. Must have been fun to explore and how lucky to be there to see the Dragon dance. You second shot is excellent, so many lanterns along the street!
Wow, sooo many lanterns...!
One of my most favorite China Towns! The streets get a bit steep there, but it's such a lovely place to visit.
It's like being in a different world. Wonderful photos Lois.
wonderful pictures lois...what a great visit...so colorful...love the lanterns!
Wonderful photos, Lois. Chinatown is an explosion of colour, lots of decorations and so much more going on. A lovely place to visit and explore.
I love those lanterns on the street!
I missed Chinatown the one time I visited San Francisco. Looks like a great place to explore. Love that parade -- fun!
Fun! Your second photo, with all of the lanterns, is the one that held my eye.
Interesting comment today about your great uncle's role in the Florida cattle industry. When I first started coming to Florida I was unaware of how many cattle are in the state and the role they played over the decades.
Great shots! They bring back lots of memories. I've visited a couple of other Chinatowns outside San Francisco but nothing holds a candle to it so far.
Chinatown in any city is always photogenic, but San Francisco's is especially cool. Love your pictures, Lois! Great stuff!
What a treat! I would love to go. Your photos show a colorful, wonderful place!
All so colourful.
Lovely pictures.
All the best Jan
