Gator tail

I took this photo when I was getting out of the car to enjoy dinner out with my daughter and grandkids over the Thanksgiving holidays. It was the week of a big rivalry football game between my alma mater, The Florida State University, and that other school south of here known as the "gators". I'm happy to report that my FSU team won the game for the fifth year in a row 38-22. By the way, I have tried fried gator tail before and it tastes like chicken only a little chewier and no, I didn't order it for dinner that night.

Linking to signs, signs.

Hello, congrats to your FSU team for their win. I think I will stick with the real chicken. Enjoy and have a happy day!

I ate gator tail in 1989 for the first and last time, it was to chewy and I KNEW what it was. I remember because our realtor took us out to a fancy restaurant and ordered it for us to taste.. it was not fried but sautéed in butter in a tiny black frying pan... happy for your win. I live with a gator lover and my granddaughter is in gator land college.. they were sad

Reading your message, I wasn't sure if the sign was a pun or an actual dish on the menu. I guess it really is a dish and you've been brave enough to try it.

Talk about your regional food choices! I didn't know you could find a restaurant serving gator tail. Would be fun to try (at least once)!

We have 'beaver tails' here in Canada - but they are a fried pastry, not real beaver tails!!

Really? That's a thing?? I thought it might have been a joke over competing teams. It's not something I think I'd look for on a menu.

Yup, we’ve tried it and it wasn’t terrible, but once was enough for me. (We we’re at some Timi Hut dive, so it might not have been a fair trial.). Was it your school or the other one who got our UO(Oregon) coach?
