Grim reminder

It's always sad to see one of these "ghost bike" memorials near the road because it means someone was killed in a bicycle accident nearby. The memorial is meant to serve as a reminder to be careful and look out for bicyclists when you are driving your car.

Have never seen something like this. Could be used here too, we have lots of accidents.

...I see many roadside memorials, but never one like this.

very sad, but needed, this is very common here, and last year we lost a good friend to an accident. he was 80 and riding his bike and was hit and killed.

I saw a guy on a popular highway (not interstate) riding a bike, going the wrong direction (drive with not against morons) and holding his dog at the same time. I felt for though of the dog getting hurt.

Hello, that is sad. The memorial is a reminder for people to slow down.
Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

I agree, they make me a bit sad when I see them too. It's an important reminder and judging from some of the drivers I saw on the way to work this morning, some of them could use a reminder.

It is done here as well. I do wonder how long they should be in place- there was one such example where the bike and an entire shrine was erected in place for a couple of years, to the point where it was a visual distraction that could have gotten someone else killed.

I wish we could make our roads safer for everyone.

A very touching memorial. Biking can be dangerous. I've read comments in other papers and magazines where people get angry at bikers and some actually try to run them off the road.

A very sad reminder of another bicycle accident & life lost. We have heard of several fatalities recently & it seems drivers here detest cyclists on the roads.

You see them here too. A cyclist was killed here yesterday.

I've not seen anything like this before. It's a sad reminder of bicycle accidents.

Think Bike!
Take Care

Keep alert and do respect and care for other drivers and pedestrians, (who may be crossing) on the road ...

All the best Jan

A sad reminder. Watch out for everything when out on the road whether you are driving, biking or walking.

Oh dear, that's so sad. I have never seen one of these kind of memorials in our area, a cross and flowers but never a bicycle.

We have lots of crosses and flowers ones here as well-- never saw a bike one tho

These are very sad memorials. Bicycling is such a good exercise and alternative to cars but it seems too dangerous to me because so many drivers barely look at the road much less notice cyclists.

So sad to see Lois, whenever I see these on our roads I think of the families who's lives have been changed forever because of one moment in time.

Yes. There's a ghost bike on one corner where I walk here in Eugene.
