Driving through Slovakia

The beautiful Tatra Mountains in the distance.

Sheep grazing in a field.

We passed through a few small villages and I enjoyed looking at the houses.

The restaurant in Donovaly, where we had lunch.

I sat on this bench while I ate my lunch.

Mushroom soup in a bread bowl. Yummy!

I hated to leave Poland, but after we crossed the border into Slovakia, we discovered that the countryside was just as beautiful. We drove through the Tatra Mountains which form a natural border between Poland and Slovakia and is the highest mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains. We stopped in the small village of Donovaly for lunch. Founded in the 17th century, Donovaly is now one of the most popular ski resorts in Slovakia.

You are such a wonderful photographer, Lois! These photos capture the beauty of the area so well! And I've never been to this part of the world, so I appreciate them very much. I thought the first few could have been taken in Kansas or Nebraska, but obviously, the architecture is quite different; very beautiful in its own way, though, and the terrain turned a bit mountainous. Donovaly looks so neat and clean, almost like a fairy tale.
