The Wood House
The Wood House sits next door to the Murphy House which I showed yesterday. Also a part of the Park Avenue Historic District near downtown, the house dates back to 1902 and was used as a winter residence for the Wood family from Ohio who came south to enjoy the warmer climate. From 1924 to 1946 the house served as a manse (the minister's home) for the First Presbyterian Church. It is now used as law offices. I took these pictures just a few minutes apart and the sky really was that blue. It got a little washed out in the first photo because I was standing in the shade and the sun was directly behind the roof. I made sure to get some of the Spanish moss hanging from the tree branches in the second shot to give it that "southern" feel.

A very beautiful building, Lois !
Oh, I like those typical American wooden houses with a porch so much. This is a beauty. I can imagine someone in a rocking chair sitting there.
Looks like something you would see on one of the HGTV home shows. That porch is so inviting.

Hello, it is a pretty home. I always love those big porches. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
I like this house even better than the other one. love that dormer window on the roof, and bay windows and the other window that is square. this house has personality...
That is a beautiful house. I could easily live there.
Good thing they kept it in great shape
It's a beautiful place. That conversion of an old house to professional offices happens here too.
These are the kinds of houses I grew up with in Minnesota. Love them and would love to spend some time poking around in the nooks and crannies of this one. Re basements: I think there may be a few houses with basements here, but certainly not in south Florida. If you dig two feet down in Ft. Lauderdale, you hit water! :)
I really like this one, Lois! Law offices always seem to look nice don't they?
This house looks wonderful... !!
I just love the moss hanging down in -- that and this beautiful historic home really say 'old South' ... just beautiful. I'm enjoying all the beautiful old homes that you're showing.
