Ochlockonee River

The Ochlockonee River is located north of Tallahassee. It originates is the state of Georgia and flows south emptying into Ochlockonee Bay and then into the Apalachee Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. I took these pictures from both sides of a bridge over the river. You can see that the water level is very low due to the drought we are currently experiencing. The rich yellows and reds of surrounding red hills clay in the area give the river a yellowish color.

Linking to Weekend Reflections.

Lovely photos! This river looks very much like our Ocklawaha River which I believe originates here in Central Florida then joins with the St. John's at Palatka.

Thank you so much for the link. That was interesting. About the animals that can be found along there. Love that! How nice is the color of the water.

Beautiful reflections Lois, I absolutely relate to the low water level situation.. we're about to head into the same situation, although I did hear Perth is going to have a wetter than usual summer this year, I hope they're right!

This looks a lot like some of the smaller rivers I would see growing up in Illinois.
