This is me inside the Colosseum in Rome.

Me again at the Roman Forum.
Inside Saint Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. This church is huge, the length of two American football fields.
Michelango's Pietà inside Saint Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. This sculpture depicts the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus Christ. This picture was taken through glass, so it is not as clear.
Me in front of Saint Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. The chairs are set up for the Jubilee events.
The Pantheon in Rome.

The Trevi Fountain. Yes, I was able to get close enough to throw in my coin!
I took all of these photos with my iPhone because I have been too tired to download pictures from my real camera. We missed our connection in Paris from Venice and ended up having to stay overnight courtesy of Air France. A very exhausting trip home. Tomorrow: Assisi and Florence.

Great photos Lois! Hope you can some rest now that you're home.
Looks like you had a wonderful trip!
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Italy, you got very nice photos of these, for me, familiar places.
An extra night in Venice? Doesn't sound bad. :-)
These are terrific and for me, somewhat nostalgic. I was in Rome in 1957 when in the Navy. And what's fascinating is that you have some of the same photos I took (although mine were taken with a Kodak Retinette film camera) ... The photos still look pretty good. What fun you must have had. I too, left a coin in the famous fountain. That was about the time the movie and the song, "Three Coins in the Fountain" came out.
Thanks so much for sharing these. I'll be going through them again and again!
We had some rain about an hour ago but now it has stopped and the sky has lightened up. It's supposed to begin again about 2 PM. Boy, do we need it!
great photos, and glad you put yourself in the photos to document your trip. since i don't float or fly, i will have to travel with photos like yours
You have been busy! What great pics, Lois!
How exciting!!!
What a fabulous trip! WOW! It's my dream to travel to Italy. Hope we just get rain out of this storm. Stay safe! Hugs, Diane
the ruins are so impressive...
thank you for your kind comment, lois.
These pictures are great! Although I've been to Italy twice, I've never been to Rome. We are tentatively planning a trip to Italy for later this year and are considering including Rome this time. I can't wait to see your Florence pictures. I love Florence! I've never been to Assisi. That's a shame about your return flight. I would love to hear your thoughts on Rome and your favorite things there.
Rome is beautiful, I am sure you had a great time.
Fabulous photos!
How absolutely fantastic. Your photos are gorgeous Lois.
