New art under the overpass
These two murals by Toronto artist Birdo (Jerry Rugg) are located on each side of the CSX railroad overpass on South Monroe Street near downtown. The murals were done as part of a collaboration with Street Art Tallahassee and the Council on Culture and Arts. The murals, a heron and an egret, capture Birdo's specialty of geometric surreal wildlife with a taste of Florida. I have seen Birdo's work before on one of my favorite blogs (and perhaps yours too) Occasional Toronto by RedPat. You can see more of his work here.

These two murals are so similar in composition, yet so different in appearance. The artist is very talented.

I've enjoyed Birdo's work for some time and these are super. Very Florida - the murals portray some of our favorite birds; they are colorful and fun!
Beautiful work in both cases.
Another heron! :-)
They are colorful and clever, and nicely painted. So, IF you are going to have murals, these are OK.
They are both wonderful works of art!
Amazing images. One has to stand in wonder at the artistic mind. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
