Today I am showing the last of my pictures from the inside of Florida's historic old Capitol. The first two pictures show the old Florida Supreme Court chamber, which appears as it did when the court heard its last case here before moving to the new Supreme Court building located behind the capitol complex. I showed a picture of the Supreme Court building on my blog last year here. The second two pictures show the old Senate chamber and the last two pictures are of the old chamber of the House of Representatives. These two branches of government now convene in their own separate wings of the new Capitol, which I steered clear of on this visit because the Legislature is currently in session and you never know who you might NOT want to run into over there.

Talking about Florida and "government" is an oxymoron. I did enjoy the photos, though. There were days when Florida had decent governors and some decent legislators but that was a while ago. Now, one might say that Florida's government is wholly dedicated to helping the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and the rest of us get screwed!
I do like the old fashioned look- particularly those chairs. The first thing about Florida's contemporary politics that comes to mind is that the governor looks like he's escaped from a lunatic asylum.

The furniture is well made and looks great not like the stuff they make today.
