February Theme Day: Scene from a Coffee House

I don't drink much coffee, but I have to admit that I do like the various sweets offered at Starbucks and my grandkids are crazy about their cake pops and cookies. Much to our dismay, my neighborhood Starbucks closed down only about a year after it opened several years ago due to company downsizing during the economic recession. We were so disappointed. It stayed shuttered for probably about 5 or 6 years and it made me sad every time I drove by. At one point, the building was even up for sale. Then about a year ago, with very little fanfare or advertising, it reopened and has been going strong ever since.

The first day of the month is Theme Day in the City Daily Photo community and this month's theme is "Scene from a Coffee House". To see other participants' interpretation of the theme, visit the CDP Theme Day gallery here.

The only coffee that tasted like coffee in the US, we found at Starbucks.

How strange that it remained closed for so long and then suddenly came back. Starbucks is not my favorite coffee, but it's consistent at least. You always know what you'll get and it's usu not too bad.

Hello, great shot for the meme. Starbucks does have nice treats. I am glad they reopened. Happy February, enjoy your new week!

We had a Starbucks shut down, too. Strange, 'cause they seem so popular around the world. I'm glad your grandkids like the goodies. I can't drink the coffee, there; it tastes like sludge! :) And it's very expensive!

I don't drink coffee at all but, I do enjoy the banana cake at Starbucks. It's always good.

There are no Starbucks in Italy, but we could use some, maybe not for the coffee!

We have them here of course, along with a couple of others that specialize in the same sort of fare, Second Cup and Bridgehead. I think Bridgehead is a Canadian company.

I like Starbucks -- we are lacking anything like this in our neighborhood here in Florida, but we make up for it in Oregon, where we have a choice of many within easy walking distance. (We aren't there much during the cold rainy season any more, thank goodness, but it is because of that kind of winter that coffee is so popular in the Pacific Northwest -- Eugene, Portland, Seattle (where Starbucks originated). And even when the weather is lovely here in Florida I miss occasional coffee treats.

Sometimes people have to experience the loss of a place they take for granted before appreciating its true worth. So glad your Starbucks came back!
Wishing you and your family many happy returns to this place,
Merisi

Glad for you that it came back. Since I avoid caffeine and sugar, this chain doesn't appeal to me but many people like it.

Ah, yes, Starbucks, my home away from home.
