This anhinga was camouflaged pretty well and sitting on the other side of a pond, so I had to zoom in to get this shot. It was sitting pretty low to the ground, not stretching out its neck, until I decided to whistle at it. As soon as I did that, up went the head and I snapped this picture.

Hello, the Anhinga is a cool bird. Their necks seem pretty long. Great shot. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
You know how to get someone's attention for sure! I would have looked up, too! :) Thanks for your comment, Lois. Our governor is truly one of most evil or many evil people in charge of things - think governors in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Arizona, Louisiana, New Jersey, etc. It's all very discouraging!
Wishing you a great weekend!
I have never ever seen an anhinga (except in photo) so I wish I were there!
Well done for snapping this up! I've never seen an anhinga before so great to learn something new!

So, I need to learn to whistle at the birds? People will talk.
I've seen a few of these birds in photoblogs, but never myself. Beautiful!

Nice shot of the bird. They do have pretty long necks.
LIke EG, I've never seen one of these in the wild.
Nice picture, Lois and it looks much like spring to me.
Beautiful bird, quite exotic for us!
