SkyWatch Friday and Saturday's Critters
I had a great time traveling and spending time with my grandkids, but my busy summer is coming to an end and I'm excited to starting blogging again! I didn't have to go very far to get this picture. The utility pole at the end of my driveway is a favorite perch of the two red shouldered hawks I have living in my backyard. This one was screeching at me every time I walked out into my garage as I was packing for a trip with my grandkids a couple of weeks ago. I like having them around because they eat small rodents and snakes. The only problem is they are keeping most of the other small birds away that I enjoy watching.

Oh, so good to see you back online, Lois!! And I do love your capture for the day!! Handsome fellow and lovely blue skies!! Glad you had a great time with your grandkids!! Hope you have a lovely weekend!!
Gorgeous shot!
I think we've got some of these here, too, but I can never get a good photo of one of them. Nice to have you back and it sounds like you had a wonderful time!
Very watchful!
Sequ il est beau ;o)
A magnificent critter!
Great photo!
Cool shot of your Hawk! They are neat to see, not sure if I would like them hanging around my yard. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
Handsome creature. Quite an exciting bird to have in your backyard.
Definitely will deter the songbirds from visiting.
Glad to see you're back! What an amazing bird. All we have around here are sparrows and blackbirds and the occasional pigeon.
Oh my goodness...beautiful!!!
I am thrilled you decided to share this link over the weekend at I'd Rather B Birdin'. All us bird enthusiasts love the beauty of feathered friends such as what you spotted and photographed!!! Thanks.
Very nice! So glad they come to visit (although I suppose the songbirds aren't too happy about it :-) )
Fabulous capture. Have a lovely week ahead.
Very nice! Wish I didn't have to go any farther to get a shot like this!
I would like a couple of hawks on my terrace...
I happened to see your comment on another blog right above my own and you mentioned Red-Shouldered Hawks and I just had to pop by. I have followed them since 1996 in my area and just love them~
