Monday Mural
This mural is a community based art project which transformed the 2,300 square foot Carlstedt’s building wall on Gaines Street into a Tallahassee nature and wildlife scene, featuring hawks, egrets, turtles, and woodpeckers. The Florida State University Department of Art Education worked in conjunction with the annual Seven Days of Opening Nights Festival and the City of Tallahassee to complete the mural in 2012. As you can see from the second shot, I had a hard time getting the entire mural into one photo. I would have had to cross a busy street with bumper to bumper traffic which would have partially blocked the mural. I plan on showing a different section of the mural each week. Today I am starting with a very pretty woodpecker. You can read more information about the mural here.

Love the colors of the flowers.
This is very nice painted.
Like the woodpecker, very nice murals!
Awesome - how great are community art projects!
Got it! A peckerhead. GRIN.
oh, i'm glad you'll show us more!
I'm glad you featured the woodpecker. I love it.
What a great, colorful mural!! I wish buildings here in the northwest would do the same!! It surely does brighten up areas/buildings that otherwise are just DULL!! Hope your week is off to a great start, Lois!! Enjoy!
I can almost hear I'm pecking away. Tom The Backroads Traveller
Nice section to start with, Lois!
Beautifully colourful. I'm assuming that's a pileated woodpecker by the looks of it.
One of the best murals I have seen lately!
That's certainly a very pretty and colorful one!
Big murals get tricky, don't they? A woodpecker is a fine way to start. I love them until it is my house they are hammering on.
Nice! I posted a photo of a pileated woodpecker the other day. Say, I wonder if a woodpecker would peck at this mural?
I love the woodpecker! A great place to start.
Some murals just have to be shown in sections Lois, this section is lovely.
Gosh, it's really pretty! Is it painted or mosaic? Thanks for sharing and visiting my blog!
Jane, it's painted. Glad you like it!
I've watched and taken photos of the pileated woodpecker and I must say the artist truly captured the essence of the woodpecker beautifully.
A lovely mural, I am glad you started with the Pileated Woodpecker. It is beautiful!
