Thanks, too, for the link to your aunt's book. I just may buy it. Looks very interesting! I don't think I could have lived in Florida in the "good ol' days" which lacked air-conditioning, but I love to read about those times.

I've heard of bat houses, but can't recall seeing them outside of documentaries.
At first glance I thought it was a children's playhouse... then I saw how high up it was!!

I wonder if there are any vancancies in that 'bat hotel'. I have one of the back of my garage that the hornets love. Few bats though.
