SkyWatch Friday

I took this picture last fall when the Goodyear blimp passed directly over my head as I was going into the grocery store. It was a Saturday afternoon and the blimp was in town for a Florida State University football game that was being televised later that night. The blimp provides those panoramic shots over the stadium you see when you watch a game on TV and it usually arrives a day or two beforehand and flies around town, especially if the weather is nice. It's always fun to see, but I think this was first time I had ever seen it this close before. Click on the picture to enlarge it and you will get a better look at the pilot's cabin and the American flag on the bottom of the blimp. Linking with SkyWatch Friday.

Superb photo of the famous blimp! A few years back we had a Navy blimp flying over Ocala. Then it disappeared. I don't know why.

Have a great weekend.

Looks excellent pulled in closer Lois, does it show the scores on the side when they're playing?

I have never seen blimps over here, only noisy planes. I would like to spot one, once in a while...

I have never seen one of these here. The pilot's cabin seems so small!

I can't recall ever seeing one. Hot air balloons, quite often, but not one of these. Good capture!

Nice shot. When I lived north of Houston, Texas there was a blimp hangar there right off the interstate and I never got tired of seeing them.

I have been fascinated by Blimps since I read about the Hindenberg. I have a video which explains why the disaster happened...Seems to me, this lovely way of transporting folks should be done again today! Now that we know why and how the disaster happened.
