Photos from Florida's Capital City (and occasionally a few from other interesting places I have been fortunate enough to visit in my travels!)

I took this picture last fall when the Goodyear blimp passed directly over my head as I was going into the grocery store. It was a Saturday afternoon and the blimp was in town for a Florida State University football game that was being televised later that night. The blimp provides those panoramic shots over the stadium you see when you watch a game on TV and it usually arrives a day or two beforehand and flies around town, especially if the weather is nice. It's always fun to see, but I think this was first time I had ever seen it this close before. Click on the picture to enlarge it and you will get a better look at the pilot's cabin and the American flag on the bottom of the blimp. Linking with SkyWatch Friday.

Many years have passed since I've seen a blimp here around, beautiful shot for this Friday!
Superb photo of the famous blimp! A few years back we had a Navy blimp flying over Ocala. Then it disappeared. I don't know why.
Have a great weekend.
Great shot and creative of the blimp for SWF ~ xoxo

I do love those blimps!! And what a great shot, Lois!! Hope you have a lovely weekend!! Enjoy!
I first thought you had seen a flying saucer! How special, iI don' t know this.
Looks excellent pulled in closer Lois, does it show the scores on the side when they're playing?
I have never seen blimps over here, only noisy planes. I would like to spot one, once in a while...
What a very sharp shot! Well done, Lois.
I have never seen one of these here. The pilot's cabin seems so small!
That literally makes me want to fly!
With me still raining, but the rivers of water no longer comes.
Lois, or match, about which you write is an American football or soccer?
I can't recall ever seeing one. Hot air balloons, quite often, but not one of these. Good capture!
That's an amazing thing to see as you walk into the store!! Great photo.
Nice shot. When I lived north of Houston, Texas there was a blimp hangar there right off the interstate and I never got tired of seeing them.
We've even get the BLIMP flyin' around these parts one in awhile. Pretty cool.
Nothing beats a big blue sky!
I have been fascinated by Blimps since I read about the Hindenberg. I have a video which explains why the disaster happened...Seems to me, this lovely way of transporting folks should be done again today! Now that we know why and how the disaster happened.
