Drive Safely

This sign was placed here as part of the Florida Department of Transportation Memorial Marker Program to commemorate someone who has died as a result of a vehicle related accident on a state highway. Requests for these markers are usually made by a member of the deceased person's family or could even be made by a friend with the family's permission. The signs are provided free of charge. More information about this program can be found here. Linking with signs, signs.

Traffic makes many victims unfortunately.

that's such a sad reminder...are they not allowed then to have memorials that they've made themselves?

They have a similar program in Texas. Hopefully people heed the message.

What a great program. It's such simple but effective reminder.

What a great idea! The ones I see here are white crosses and flowers placed there by the family.

That is a sad reminder indeed! Hopefully, enough people pay attention to them.

An excellent and useful idea, but it would be wasted time here.

So sad to see Lois, we have them here too. Hopefully they will make drivers more conscious of driving more carefully.

Very sad, but a good reminder for people to pay more attention.

I agree with Halcyon, nice composition, Lois!

When I see how many people drive, I sometimes wonder whether they even notice them...

I'm not sure people pay enough attention to such signs. It is a sad reminder of how careless we have become.

interesting idea - here on the whole such things tend be discouraged

I guess this is a good program in that it can provide some closure for those involved and also serve as a reminder for the rest of us. Speaking of that, on the way to dinner this afternoon, I almost got side-swiped by a woman who had a lit cigarette in her left hand which was hanging out the window, while she was texting with her right hand, trying to steer the car with the palm. There are too many stoopids out there!

It's more subdued than the ones we might see here.
