The Wood House

I could not find much history on this house except that it was built in 1904 and was used as a winter residence for the Wood family who came south from Ohio to enjoy the warmer climate. It is located on Park Avenue near downtown Tallahassee and is now being used as office space. I took the second picture from the porch of the Knott House next door, which has been beautifully preserved and I was fortunate enough to be touring at the time. More pictures from the inside of the Knott House are coming, so stay tuned.

It is a beautiful old house. We have a word for that in Swedish, snickarglädje.

I like it a lot. I think what seals the deal for me is the size of that porch.

This house would be at home in Connecticut. The stairs from the third level to the second and from the second to the ground level are odd. In New England, those are only required if each level is itself a residential unit without access to lower floors from within the house.

I bet that attic is a lovely spot to escape from the rest of the family!
