These items are located in a little room just off the kitchen. The first one is a pretty little breakfast set sitting on a tray just right for serving the lady of the house her breakfast in bed. The second picture shows two more of Luella Knott's modern electric appliances. Since clothes were mostly made of cotton back then, ironing them was a necessity. The contraption next to the more familiar looking electric iron is called a "Thor Automagic Gladiron". The last picture is an ad for this modern marvel showing how "easy" it was to use.

Yes, I really like the breakfast tray, but everything else just makes me overjoyed that I live in the world of today in spite of today's "flaws"!! This series has really made me appreciate "my world"!! Thanks for sharing these, Lois!! A fun look back!
Some interesting museum pieces, but I am old enough to remember something like this, if not the same...
Very old fashioned... my great grandmother would have no doubt recognized the older iron.
We've come a long way, haven't we! :) Of course, I remember the wringer on my Mom's washing machine.
I am so glad I don't have to iron anymore. Not that I ever used one that was that "easy" ... but I hated that job. Clothes were mostly cotton for quite a few years after we were married (not quite as long ago as the Knotts, but almost ;>)!)_
