The concrete looks like wood indeed.
This is one of the most unusual grave markers I've seen. I don't know much about Woodmen of the World but I do know they were a big deal early in the 20th century.

I've seen lots of Woodmen of the World markers in my wanderings in cemeteries. You can spot them a long ways away.
I've seen those types of headstones, very strange.
Sounds like one of the benefits of the organization continue long after the meetings have ended.

There is a cemetery in Langley on Whidbey Island here that is managed by the Woodmen. Very nice indeed.

Woodmen has a long history in my city, Colorado Springs. There is even a Woodmen Road here, which is one of our main thoroughfares.

I have seen quite a few WotW memorials, Loids, mainly from American cemeteries. The symbol of the cut off tree is important, too. Meaning a life cut short.
