Shadow Shot Sunday
An oak tree casts its shadow on a marker honoring Florida Veterans of the Viet Nam Conflict at Lake Ella. This is my first time participating in Shadow Shot Sunday.

The newly renovated branch of the Leon County Public Library near my house. I'm anxious to see the inside.

These little white ducks were staying together while swimming near the edge of Lake Ella. Visit Water World Wednesday to see more beautiful watery pictures.

Taphophile Tragics
I noticed this gravesite in Roselawn Cemetery had a sign next to it saying "Do not mow". I guess the family wants to do all of the maintenance themselves. To see more interesting cemetery photographs, don't miss Taphophile Tragics.

Myst Me
Parked on the side on the highway not far from where I live. I guess this is safer than actual sunbathing.

SkyWatch Friday
No, I did not park in this space illegally. I just thought the sky looked quite pretty behind the sign. To see more beautiful skies from just about everywhere in the world, don't miss SkyWatch Friday.

Fall Ball
The fall baseball season has started and I'm proud to say that's my oldest grandson playing catcher in this picture.

Poker anyone?
I noticed this sign behind a restaurant in town. Gretna is a small town just west of Tallahassee and apparently they have a poker room there along with barrel racing.

Good on gas
I saw this vehicle parked in front of a restaurant as we were leaving the other night. Looks like it would be fun to drive if you aren't going very far. As an added bonus, you can haul stuff in the back!

Cody's
I took this picture of of Cody's Original Roadhouse just for Lowell. I really like that orange truck! I haven't tried this place yet, but I hear you can throw your peanut shells right on the floor.

Weekend Reflections
I was trying really hard to get a good shot of this police segway parked on the other side of the glass window, but the reflections inside the mall behind me kept getting in the way! To see more, visit Weekend Reflections.

SkyWatch Friday
You have to look close to see it, but that little black spot near the clouds is a helicopter flying by. To see more beautiful skies, visit SkyWatch Friday.

Spook Store
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I don't mind in the least that there is a store in the mall already open and dedicated to all things spooky.

Not sure this is a good deal....
I usually like BOGO (buy one, get one free) sales, but I think I'll pass on this one, especially with that spelling error on the sign!

Taphophile Tragics
Another interesting gravesite in Roselawn Cemetery. I'm sure the red bench, the multi-colored rooster and the red Mickey Mouse shaped decoration must all have some kind of meaning. Visit Taphophile Tragics to see more interesting photographs from cemeteries all over the world.

No Drooling in Here
The inside of one of my favorite places to eat, 1 Fresh Stir Fry. The food here is good, fast and fresh. I took this picture right after they opened for lunch. A few minutes later it was filled with customers. They are a locally owned business with three locations in Tallahassee.

Sunflower again, this time with a visitor
This is the same sunflower I showed yesterday. I took both pictures about the same time of the morning (9:00am) but on consecutive days. When I was there again yesterday morning, my sunflower had a butterfly resting on it and the weather was not overcast like it was the day before. I like this version much better!

Sunflower
Yesterday while waiting for my granddaughter's teacher, I noticed this pretty sunflower growing next to the school. It was a lot taller than me!

Camera Critters: Love is in the Air
For obvious reasons, these critters are commonly called "love bugs". We are currently in the middle of the fall love bug season, but we also see them for a few weeks in the spring. These little pests are flying around attached to each other everywhere you look, but they especially like to congregate near roads and highways because they are attracted to the exhaust from cars. My son was even complaining the other day because they were following him around the yard while he mowed the grass! Fortunately they will be gone in another week or so. To see more interesting critters from all over the world, don't miss Camera Critters.

Theme Day: People Watching
Lake Ella is definitely my favorite place in town to do some people watching, especially when the weather is nice! This sidewalk winds all the way around the lake and there are plenty of shady spots to sit down and just enjoy the day. There are also quite a few local businesses there serving good things like coffee or wine, snowballs, and cupcakes. The first day of the month is Theme Day for the City Daily Photo community.
