I'm done!
Today is my last day of work. Ever. After 35 years of working at Florida State University, I am retiring. It's a good feeling. This is a picture of the arch over the main gate at FSU. I took it yesterday when I was leaving the office on my way home.
Congratulations!!! What a great way to cap off your career but with your daughter's graduation the day before! I remember both my boys' graduations from FSU - a triumphant day for sure. And now for your second act . . .
That's a huge change in lifestyle and one that takes a bit of adjustment...but you will love the freedom to explore and embark on new adventures and journeys. ENJOY!!
I am sure you have accomplished a lot of worthwhile contributions to an important institution of higher education and can look back on your career with satisfaction and can look forward to your future activities with anticipation.
And of course there is more time with your grandchildren in your future.
Congratulations, Lois! I retired on July 1, 2010, so I have a two year headstart on you. Enjoy the freedom that comes with retirement. I look forward to seeing some of it through your blog.
A terrific way to exit FSU after all those years. Congratulations and I know you'll enjoy your retirement. It was the best thing I ever did. The thing is, though, you'll find that you'll be busier than ever. I don't understand how that works, but that's the way it is!
The difference is you can be busy doing the things you really enjoy!
Best wishes, and it's very nice to have you back on CDP!
Hee Lois you are back! That must be strange to end your professional life after 35 years. A new part will start now. The best part is the freedom you get, no boss, go whenever you want, get up at your own time, no ringing alarmbell next to your bed etc., etc., etc.
Congratulations! 35 years at one institution is an impressive achievement. Enjoy your time with your grandchildren. Hopefully, you'll have more time too for blogging!

I have 35 years in the natural gas business. I think that I'm good for about 10 more, if somebody will keep me employed.
