This week I will be showing pictures of some of the Florida wildlife on display at the Tallahassee Museum. We have a family membership and my daughter and I took my grandkids there over the weekend. This black vulture was sitting on the ground right next to the fence and didn't seem to mind me taking his picture.

That is nice he posed so close for you. Those are impressive birds.
Who would have guessed that a vulture's feathers would be so colourful?
Wow. I've only ever seen vultures standing up along side the road. Wow.
A different and cute critter!
Very nice subject for the series!

Couldn't do without these guys in our eco system. Great shot Lois. Welcome back, I've missed you!
Impressive!
Nicest shot of a vulture I've ever seen. Looked fast and thought it was a mourning dove.
I don't think I've ever seen one before Lois, it's very impressive and also obliging to sit there so quietly for you.
Beautiful photo, Lois. But I have to admit I'm not too sure I like vultures :-)
A face that only a mother and you.. 'Lois the bird lover', could love.
hugs
Pam i am :D
Hes trying to lure something inside, hes hungry.
Impressive photo, Lois.
Welcome back, we missed you!
This looks a bit different from our black vultures, but it may be due merely to the light in the museum. It is an excellent photo, and I think they are wonderful birds serving a beneficial purpose!
A beautiful bird. And a very necessary one. He is like the hyenas in Africa — keeping diseases at bay and feeding himself/herself and their family. I think it is amazing, really, that Mother Nature thought of all the things necessary for life to exist. And, of all the creatures, great and small, the one doing the most harm to life on Earth happens to be human beings.
I saw our buzzards not that long ago, feeding on a deer carcass in the ditch beside the road. It had been there long enough to be about gone. The ribs were still visible but not much else.
There are a lot of deer killed around here because of the constant, day and night, traffic on Interstate 70.
Oh,Lois! This is an absolutely wonderful photo. OOoooh, my--this picture just fills my eyes.
Great picture! Lily and I are taking Owen to the Junior tomorrow. I can't wait.
My goodness...it doesn't look real it's so still. Nice capture.
I've never thought of vultures as beautiful birds, but this is truly a gorgeous creature. Great shot Lois!
