I took this picture in the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge just south of Tallahassee earlier this summer and it represents what north Florida looks like to me. The only thing missing is an alligator sunning himself on one of the rocks, but I'm sure there are a few out there hiding. The first day of the month is Theme Day for the City Daily Photo community.

I am not a grat fan of alligators, so I like this picture exactly as it is!
Nice photo.
Regards!
It really would be perfect with an alligator but its perfect like this too
you should have taken a big slab of raw meat to draw the alligator out. Nice theme day post.
untamed! so pretty!!
Nice! I'll pass on the swamp 'critters' though. hahaha
I would have guessed one of the rocks was an alligator.
An alligator might have been perfect for the photo, but perhaps not for the bird.
Postcard perfect for Florida! I bet you're right about the gators hiding. ((chomp chomp))
Very pretty, Lois. I don't mind looking at gators, so long as they are far enough away and I don't surprise them. (I had guessed that you worked at FSU from many of your photos around the school.)
Excellent! Who cares about a few beasties!
Not only is it "postcard" worthy, but it looks like a perfect place to relax and do some birding.
Those tricky gators in Florida, i remember them well when i lived down in the Orlando area. Richard
Such a peaceful looking photo! Nice theme day shot.
Very iconic. Looks like there might be a golf course in the background (or, if not, there should be! - just kidding...)
An excellent photo in every way, Lois!
Beautiful spot of peaceful Nature!
Great choice!! :)
I would have loved to seen an alligator in your photo...but probably not face to face ;D
Perfect photo for theme day! Hope you're having a lovely week :D

This is perfect for a Florida postcard!
I am new to your blog, but love the photos of the area. I have family there and have visited over the years. St Marks is a familiar name. My brother lives at Spring Creek, home of a fine restaurant.
I am a beginning photographer and love blogs with good photos.
