The Leon County Courthouse in downtown Tallahassee. Originally part of Escambia and later Gadsden counties, Leon county was created by the territorial legislature in 1824. It was named for Juan Ponce de Leon, the Spanish explorer who discovered and named Florida in 1513. Tallahassee, the county seat, has been the state capital since 1824.

I know it must be really hot and muggy there this time of year, but your pictures always make Tallahassee look so green and cool, Lois.
Very interesting architecture--I like it. What do the locals think of it?
The architecture is really creative! It looks like a square cover for a glass building :D
You know, I have never liked the modern look of our Courthouse...as a matter of fact I don't like a lot of changes in our town that have taken the charm out of it.
there is a street in atlanta named for him too! didn't he also discover the fountain of youth? we went there a while back!
Nice looking building. I like the mix of cement and glass.
I like to read a bit history I don't know about, thanks for sharing.
I didn't know all of that! Very interesting ... I thought Leon County was named for Leon Trotsky. Nah, that wouldn't work! :-))
