SkyWatch Friday

Beautiful blue skies above the south gate of Florida State University in Tallahassee. This particular gate is a memorial to the classes of 1933-1935, when FSU was known as the Florida State College for Women. To see more gorgeous skies from all over the world, visit SkyWatch Friday.

Fans of Florida State Football have probably forgotten that their school used to be a college for women, which is something that I did not know. Arizona State University used to be called "Tempe Normal," undoubtedly with a mostly female student body.

Dave, believe me, fans of FSU football are well aware that it used to be a women's college. It is part of a proud heritage. My father actually transferred to FSU from the University of Florida in 1948, the first year FSU became coed. He immediately met my mother and the rest is history! He was pretty smart to do that in my opinion, since UF was the "boys" school back then.

I was going to ask if you went to the FSCW but I figured you might take offense even if you knew I was kidding, so I'm not going to ask it. OK.

Our Central Florida Community College is now known as College of Central Florida and is giving out 4-year diplomas. That's a good thing, I think.

Blue, green, pretty wrought iron, I like everything about this. And the info you give about the college is interesting too.

I learn new things regularly from my blogging friends. FSU a woman's school? I never knew that. And no ribbing from Gainesville?
