Camera Critters

This raccoon has been hanging around my backyard for the last few days. Here he is watching me from high up in my oak tree. I think he is enjoying eating all the fruit hanging on my loquat trees. I also saw him drinking out of one of my bird baths, which is not surprising since it has been over 100 degrees every day and we are in the middle of a drought. To see more fascinating critters from around the world, don't miss Camera Critters.

You just gotta love a raccoon. They are such cute animals with their "Bandit Face" and black ringed tails. I've come across them a few times in the past while camping and found that they just love peanut butter. We used to smear a paper bag on the inside with peanut butter just to watch them get into that bag, cause they can smell it.

I wouldn't get to close to them. If they feel threatened they will turn on you. They have very sharp claws and will bite! Known to carry rabies.

And I got that picture of a fox yesterday. This drought is making all of us crazy- animal and human alike.

Beautiful. Just showed my wife the picture. Raccoons are the one special friend she misses in India. She used to have 4 raccoons living in her home in Central PA a long time ago.

It looks like he's smiling at you, Lois! Very cute. Hope he's being a good boy in your backyard though :D

Gotta admit the thing is pretty cute. But they are rascals, too. I've not seen a raccoon in all the time we've been in Ocala...saw lots of them in south Florida, though.

So cute! I hope he doesn't start tearing things up and become a nuisance.
