Watery Wednesday - Alligators

Posted by Picasa

Alligators are really good at camouflaging themselves. There is an alligator in each one of these pictures I took while my grandson and I were riding on the river boat tour on the Wakulla River at the Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park just south of Tallahassee. You can click on each picture to enlarge them and get a much better look. For more wonderful watery pictures, please visit Watery Wednesday.

Cool. There was actually a 4 foot gator found dead on the side of Old Bainbridge road a couple of weeks ago...yikes!

They sure are hard to see. I think I would end up being their lunch.

So green! Even the alligator is almost invisible.

We both have lovely "Watery Wednesday" postings today but mine does NOT have an alligator in it! Yikes!

Yes, yes, I can see each one. In a couple of weeks I am touring the far NW of Australia which has many crocodiles. I am not keen on that aspect of the trip!!

And here I thought Gators only showed up in Tally every other November.

And that's a close as I ever want to be to an alligator again! We saw them up close and personal when we visited N Florida many years ago, and that was enough for me!

I like that last shot the best, I think ... looking at me from the corner of his eye ...

Chills.

We have them down in Hilton Head SC and often the golfers have to play around them which always makes me laugh. Personally I am terrified of them but I hear if you run along side of them you are OK as their side vision is not good. Still I never want to be close enough to one to find out:-)

Heh, heh! It seems lots of folks don't know alligators won't bother you in a boat. They usually won't bother you at all unless they're hungry and they only get hungry about once a month...the trick is to know what that once a month rolls around.

They are slithery critters, though, and 'tis best to stay clear. They can run very fast, too!

Nice shots, Lois!

Yikes! Great pictures but yikes!

That top picture is especially fab with the rippling water, the green plants, the reflections and the set of alligator eyes!

They do a great job of camouflaging.

What a fun post! It's almost funny how these critters can hide so well.

Alligators are kind of sneaky even on land. I was at a swamp in Texas when one of the logs about 5 feet away from me ran into the swamp real quick. I started being a little more watchful very quickly.
