An afternoon thunderstorm started rolling in while my grandson and I were about halfway through our Wakulla River boat tour at Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park last weekend. I hate lightning and being out on the river in a mostly metal boat while lightning is popping all around me is not my idea of fun! Thankfully it blew over pretty quickly. To see more amazing skies from around the world, don't miss SkyWatch Friday.

Lightning can be exciting or scary, depending on its proximity. It usually means spectacular skies, though, and nice photography.
Wow! that sounds like a frightening experience, especially with your grandson in tow.
You did capture a beautiful landscape though.
No, not my favorite place to be during a storm with lightening! Glad it didn't last long! Great captures! What a lovely place! Have a great weekend, Lois!

Sounds a bit scary but you got some great shots.

Stormy weather can be scary but sure makes for interesting photo opportunities. Happy Sky Watch Friday.
I would find that to be a bit scary. The sky in the second picture has an ominous look.
We had terrible storms here last night, lots of downed trees and power outages.

Look very calm sky, no sign of thunderstorm up there.
Glad you had your camera to distract you from your worries! All the photos of your river trip are wonderful!
A beautiful day and your pictures are wonderful. This is a peaceful scenery, very beautiful! And for sure a lovely blue sky! :)

«Louis» is with you on the lightening/water/metal boat connection! Quite nice images after the storm passed.
You dont like having a big target on your back? Made for nice photos though.
Nice photos. It looks like a breeze came up and textured the water very nicely for your second shot.
It's so beautiful there. I would not have wanted to be in that boat with one of our thunderboomers rolling in either.
Water, metal and lightning are not a good combination!
Lovely, peaceful scenery though — hard to imagine that the weather wasn't perfect.
I love those dramatic skies. Glad you stayed safe.
Living down here caused me to hate lightning.

Florida - the lightning capitol of the world!
We just got a whole house surge protector...won't help with a direct strike, but it will help when lightning causes a surge in power...
You could have titled this both "beautiful skies and beautiful water"!
A thunderstorm in a metal boat, on a lake amid the trees: you really want to scare us!
I love thunderstorms, but would not want to be out in the middle of a lake in a metal boat in one!!! EEeeeek!
If you look at the dragon's tails, how they're attached to their bodies--you'll see what I didn't see until I'd already inked it in and it was too late. lol
oh i have so been there...and i can sure say it's frightening!
gorgeous photo though! glad you had a camera!

Yep! You got it!!! Can you believe I inked it in before I realized what I'd done? And that most people don't catch what I did even when they look at it awhile. lol
Beautiful sky shots, Lois. As far as my husband is concerned it could rain on our lawn every afternoon and he would be happy.
I love thunder but lightening really frightens me
beautiful photos
On the water in a metal boat is not my favorite place to be during a thunderstorm either. But the storm made for some really beautiful skies.
The Road to Here
Great shots Lois. That looks and sounds like my day yesterday. A lake and a thunderstorm. :)
Have a great weekend!
It looks like a wonderful river for a boat ride but maybe not in a thunderstorm.
Beautiful pictures ... not sure I'd want to be in that metal boat during a thunderstorm though ...
Glad you were safe! Those are some stormy skies!
