Movies

Several movies were filmed at Wakulla Springs and here are a few of them. These movie posters were hanging inside the building where we bought our tickets for the river boat tour. While we were on the tour, I kept trying to imagine Johnny Weissmuller standing on the river bank doing his famous Tarzan yell or the Creature from the Black Lagoon rising up out of the water near our boat!

Fun to see those old movie posters! I just hope no sea creatures jumped out of the water...

I saw The Creature from the Black Lagoon when I was just a little kid and it scared me to death, even though I could see the zipper in his suit....

Saw all 3, and I can hear Johnny in my head right now. I used to practice on my way to and from school, to my neighbor's anger!

These are fun movie posters. I love the top one. It's so perfectly cheesy! Actually, I think maybe campy is the right word.

Love these old posters. The special effects seemed so real, even if they look really amateurish these days in comparison to computer-generated effects.

The old movie posters used to scare the daylights out of me. But back those days I used to turn a catalog page hoping to find something I never saw before. I never did see one of those silver bullets the Lone Ranger fired at everyone.

Lots of movies were filmed in Florida...I think they did some scenes from Creature here at Silver Springs, too.
