Beads

Posted by Picasa

One of the fun things to do while attending the Springtime Tallahassee Parade is collecting as many strands of beads as you can from people like this guy who walk along throwing them at the crowd. One trick for collecting beads is to take a cute kid with you. My granddaughter was a bead magnet!

I witnessed the same bizarre bead-throwing custom in New Orleans during Mardi Gras parades. Is it an original Florida practice?

New Orleans is awash in beads. They are just pure fun, aren't they?

I think a cute Grandmum and cute granddaughter must have made you two a dynamic duo!

Thankfully throwing beads is different in Tallahasse than it is on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The State Troopers you showed yesterday will make sure of that.

I'm sure it was more tame than FantasyFest in Key West.

Beads and buttons. This guy has plenty of both.

So how many did she collect? Everyone loves a parade. MB

seems like so much fun!

I also noticed the guy's buttons! Wow.

I would rather they threw beads during parades than candy, which they throw around here. After the parade is over, parents scramble everywhere trying to keep their little ones from picking up the "missed" pieces and popping them in their mouths!

Wonder if he has 'beady' eyes behind his shades?

Sounds like Mardi Gras in New Orleans. So how many beads do you get?

A cute kid will do it every time. Of course a cute granny works too:)

I'm with Clueless - the guy would be more impressed with the cute granny in the shades, I think!

"Bead Magnet" how adorable! And what fun -- especially to wear that bead collection!

Men certainly cut a dashing figure in those days, so much more stylish than today's modern wear.
Cheers.
