Beads
One of the fun things to do while attending the Springtime Tallahassee Parade is collecting as many strands of beads as you can from people like this guy who walk along throwing them at the crowd. One trick for collecting beads is to take a cute kid with you. My granddaughter was a bead magnet!

Trooper
This Florida Highway Patrol State Trooper was riding right behind the Sheriff's Posse in the Springtime Tallahassee Parade last Saturday. Behind him you can see a beautiful flowering dogwood tree. Spring is definitely here (along with the pollen)!

Sheriff's Posse
The annual Springtime Tallahassee Parade was held this past Saturday and the weather was absolutely perfect. The Leon County Sheriff's Office Mounted Posse helped kick off the parade. The parade route goes through the heart of downtown Tallahassee. The Florida Capitol complex is located right behind those trees in the background.

Weekend Reflections
Yesterday my granddaughter and I headed downtown to watch the annual Springtime Tallahassee parade. We noticed our reflection in the door of this building and decided to take a self portrait. To see more reflections from around the world, please visit James at Weekend Reflections.

Tee Ball
My 5 year old grandson is playing tee ball this year and had his very first game this week. In the first picture you can see him concentrating on the ball which is sitting on the tee and getting ready to hit it. The next picture shows him running to first base after he hit the ball. He had a fun time and we really enjoyed watching him. They don't keep score at these games, so everyone got to hit and everyone was a winner!

Warning
I didn't see any alligators the day I visited San Luis Park, but I'm sure there were some lurking around there somewhere!

A Few Wedding Pics
Me all dressed up and ready to go see my son get married.

My nephew (left) and my son (right) pose on the front steps of the house where the ceremony will take place.

The newlywed couple pose in the front yard after the ceremony with the groomsmen.

The wedding cake with a few of the dozens of cupcakes that surrounded it.
My grandson trying to catch bubbles with his champagne glass.
My son's wedding was held outdoors on the bride's family farm just north of Tallahassee near Havana, Florida. It was a beautiful spring day with sunny skies and the temperature at ceremony time was about 76 degrees F. It was a true Southern style wedding with the groom and all of his groomsmen attired in top hats and tails complete with white gloves and canes. They all looked very dapper! The ceremony was held on the front steps of the bride's family home with the reception a short walk away in the pasture under a huge tent. On the menu were barbequed ribs, chicken and pork with various side dishes including green beans, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and bread. The wedding cake was surrounded by dozens of individually decorated cupcakes. We all had a wonderful time and now the newlyweds are off on their honeymoon at a romantic 100 year old bed and breakfast overlooking the ocean in St. Augustine. We all had a wonderful time at the wedding, but I am just exhausted!

The Big Day
My son is getting married today! I'm so happy for him and his beautiful bride, but a little wistful too. After all, he is my baby boy! This beautiful little statuette was a gift from my future daughter-in-law to her mother last week during her bridal shower. I couldn't resist taking a picture of it. Congratulations Eston and Shanna!

Can you find.....
the fake tree in this picture? A not too well disguised cell phone tower near highway 90 west in Tallahassee. At least they tried to make it blend in! By the way, my blog is sort of on autopilot right now due to the wedding festivities around here. I hope to be back to normal next week. Thanks for visiting and commenting!

Random Heart
Last week I attended a bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law and as I was walking out of the house and down the front walk, I noticed this little stone heart sitting right in my path! I immediately thought about my wonderful friend Clytie and her fabulous blog Random Hearts. Clytie finds hearts everywhere and sometimes the hearts find her. Perhaps it is because she has such a good heart herself! I thought it was a great sign that I found this little heart after a fun shower celebrating the fact that my son will be married soon. Please visit Clytie's beautiful blog to enjoy more Random Hearts.

Camera Critters
This cute little fellow let me pet him and then I took his picture. He and his friends were having a late afternoon snack on the farm in Havana (just north of Tallahassee) where my son will be getting married next Saturday. Weekend Reflections
Unless you have very keen eyes, you really should click on the first picture and enlarge it so you can gaze into the glass ball to see the reflection of the Messer House shown in the second picture. The 362 acre Mission San Luis property which I have been featuring this week on my blog was purchased by James Messer in the early 20th century and his house was completed in 1939. The property was sold by James Messer's widow to the State of Florida in 1983 and research began to bring the story of Mission San Luis to the public. The Messer House was used as the visitor's center until this year when a new visitors' center was opened. It will now be used as administrative offices. To see more beautiful reflections from around the world, please visit James at Weekend Reflections.

SkyWatch Friday
Bell towers at Mission San Luis in Tallahassee. The first one is next to the friary and the second one is next to the church. Look closely at the second one and you will see a tiny little jet contrail in the sky underneath the top pole in the back and between the two side poles on the right. You can actually see it better if you click on the picture and enlarge it. To see more beautiful skies from around the world, please visit SkyWatch Friday.
Spanish Home
Another re-created building at Mission San Luis. This is a Spanish home in the village. To the right of the building you can see a re-enactor dressed in typical clothes of the era. Click on the picture to enlarge it and see her better. I like her hat!

Awards!

I am so excited and honored to announce that I have received two awards! The Sunshine Award I actually got twice today, first from Inverness Daily Photo and then from Deden at Bandung Documentary Photo. The Happy 101 Award is also from Deden at Bandung Documentary Photo. Please visit their wonderful blogs and I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm supposed to pass these wonderful awards on to 12 worthy bloggers, but I am so busy right now preparing for my son's wedding next week that it's all I can do just to keep up my blog and visit everyone. Please bear with me and I promise I will be back to normal after the wedding is over!
