Gone are the days of being able to drive down the street in front of the Florida Governor's Mansion near downtown Tallahassee. These gates went up several years ago. You can still walk down that street, but it's not the same! I posted a picture of the Florida Governor's Mansion when I first started my blog and you can see that picture
here.

Your photos is great. Congratulations. Greetings.
I guess its better safe than sorry.
An unfortunate sign of the times.
I would imagine that this was done to keep out unwanted people and for security reasons. I would tend to think that most other places like this have the same thing. The Governor of PA, probably has it too, somewhere.
So far removed from Andrew Jackson opening the White House to everyone for his inaguration!
...now if we could only invent a gate that would keep the politicians out!!
It's not so bad if you can still walk there, probably they have a good reason for this.
Gotta protect his honor from the bad guys...you know, those folks down in Gainesville! ;-)
The gate is a sign of our times as is the examination of bare feet at the airport. Who would have thought these things are necessary for a supposed "civilized" tribe called who used to be different from animals and were called "Human Beings." I suppose it shows how diverse the accomplishments of the Devil on Earth and makes me continue to think that God has left.
You would think they could have found a gate that was a little more ornate?
Safety first, I guess!
I clicked on the link to see the MAGNIFICENT governor's mansion! Our Minnesota Governor Pawlenty doesn't live in the fantastic, historic Governor's Mansion in St. Paul but rather with his family here in EAGAN! Yes, he's a fellow Eaganite!
The need for security has been the driver of the world for this entire decade.
Big ugly gate isn't it. I am sure there are nicer gates just as sturdy. Maybe it is who you have for govenor that has to be protected. LOL MB
Your photos is great.
Sort of sad, and something of a symbol of the government being detached from the voters, although I realize safety is the real reason.

Rather luxurious palace he lives in, big ugly gate to keep the 'common folk' out!
Sign of the times...
Looks solid. Is the gouv' afraid of something?
