There are quite a few stray cats living on the other side of this fence next to the Walmart parking lot. The three cats in this picture didn't seem as afraid of me as the ones you can't see hiding in the bushes. Someone is feeding them though, as you can tell from the large pan of cat food there by the fence on the left side of the picture.

Take a bow!
My grandson (red shirt, second from right in front of the piano) and some of his fellow students taking a bow after their piano recital last week. They all did a great job!

What is this strange creature sitting on my car? He is the same little guy I featured a couple of weeks ago here. I took this picture through my windshield after driving several miles with him crouched there looking very determined to stay put. I finally felt sorry for him and pulled over so he could disembark safely into the bushes. To see more fascinating reflections from around the world, visit Weekend Reflections.

This guy was not much of a conversationalist, but we did enjoy a few quiet moments on the bench admiring the decorations at Dorothy Oven Park over the weekend.

This cell phone tower in Tallahassee is supposed to be disguised as a tree and from a distance it actually blends in quite well. More lovely skies can be found by visiting SkyWatch Friday.

This handsome fellow was standing on the side of the road apparently trying to get noticed, so I pulled in and took his picture.

Looking like Christmas
It wasn't quite dark yet when I was leaving Tallahassee Nurseries, but the decorations hanging from the trees at the entrance to their driveway were already lit.

They mean it!
I noticed these two signs in front of Spears Seafood Market in Tallahassee when I stopped in to buy some fresh oysters and I thought they were funny.

The sky reflected in the front doors of the old Leon County Armory building. This building is now used by the City of Tallahassee as the Senior Center and offers a wide variety of activities and services such as arts & crafts, educational programs, recreational activities, and support groups for area senior citizens. I have been noticing this bicycle parked on this corner for months and the other day I decided it deserved to be showcased on my blog. After posting this picture today, one of my local blogger friends has explained why it is here. Please see the comment below by downtown guy. What a sad reminder! There is also a website about Ghost Bikes here. Thanks Hank.

These succulent little critters will be on my Thanksgiving table today in the form of oyster dressing to go along with the turkey and all of the other goodies. I don't think I have ever had a Thanksgiving meal that did not include fresh Florida oysters. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I took this picture while standing under an old oak tree near this lake. As you can see, I had to dodge the Spanish moss that was hanging low from the branches of the tree. To see more wonderful watery pictures, be sure to visit Watery Wednesday.

I finally found a barn I could photograph so I could participate in Tricia's wonderful meme at Bluff Area Daily. This barn is located just south of Tallahassee. I wish I could have gotten a little closer, but there were "no trespassing" signs everywhere. To see more wonderful old barns, visit Tricia at Old Barns.

Light the Way
While walking back to my car after photographing the Marjory Stoneman Douglas building (featured in my weekend blog posts), I noticed that the sun reflecting off of the bronze building was providing a lovely little path through the trees and pine straw.

Florida State Parks
A closeup of the Florida State Parks banner near the front door of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas building that I featured on this blog yesterday. This building is the headquarters for the the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. If you look closely or click on the picture and enlarge it, you will catch a glimpse of me and my camera down there in the lower right hand corner.
Saturday, November 20, 2010
The headquarters for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is located in this building named for Marjory Stoneman Douglas, who was an American journalist, writer, feminist, and environmentalist noted for her role in the protection of the Florida Everglades against efforts to drain it and reclaim land for development. You can read more about Marjory Stoneman Douglas here. This building is located several miles west of downtown Tallahassee and provides some wonderful reflections of the surrounding trees. To see more beautiful reflections from around the world, visit James at Weekend Reflections.
