This little rainbow appeared in my backyard late one afternoon last week when the sun came out while it was still raining. Can you see the raindrops falling? I wish it was a little clearer, but I barely had time to take the picture before the rainbow disappeared and I didn't even have time to open the window. My Granny always used to say that when the sun comes out while it is still raining that it means the devil is laughing!

Great photo Lois~~~~~
don't know about your granny but she makes me laugh!
Great rainbow capture! I can almost count the raindrops!
The most interesting thing about this photo is not the rainbow. It is the fact you were able to get a shot of the bird feeder without a squirrel on it.
That is my squirrel-proof bird feeder and it really works! The squirrels try but they can't get to the seeds because when they step on that perch, their weight pushes it down and covers up the seed ports. It's funny to watch them try though!
I think your granny cleaned that one up for you. I've always heard it meant the devil's beating his wife.
That's amazing, Lois. I can see the raindrops!
But it's the rainbow! I've never, ever, seen anything like this! It looks like it appeared just to bless your house. I've never seen one that wasn't in the sky!
Zounds!
Very pretty! Do you get a lot of humingbirds at your feeder?
PS: I bought one of those types of feeders too! I am still waiting for my husband to engineer a way to hang it for me though. I hope it works!!
Halcyon, yes I do have a lot of hummingbirds. I have two hummingbird feeders and the only problem is that the hummingbirds are very territorial and they fight over the feeders. One will sit up in the tree and guard a feeder. When another one shows up, he will dive bomb it from the tree. It's fun to watch though, but I wish they would just share!
I've heard that one too, downtown guy, but not from my Granny!
Wow! Your very own special rainbow. I never heard that about the devil I always thought the rainbow meant Good Luck and I think I like that better. Super catch. MB
Oh a rainbow! Cool shot
Halcyon, make sure you use a metal wire and hook hanger, otherwise the squirrels will chew through it and bring the whole feeder down!
Beautiful rainbow blessings for you!
What a lovely picture! I enjoy your blog very much.
Sunny :)
Lois, this is great. How often are we lucky enough to have a rainbow land in our own back yard. Maybe it's good luck in store for you. Let's hope so. I wasn't aware of those feeders. I'm going to have to find one and give it a try. Thanks, and Happy Wednesday!
That is amazing...I would love to see a rainbow like that...
Gotta be fast when you see a rainbow, they never last long if you have a camera.
Much prefer hummingbirds to grey squirrels.
Very nice capture.
I guess rainbows get smaller wheen the economy is down something to do with smaller pots of gold, it's all very technical. :-)
Great photo. I love rainbows. I like your feeder's too. I used to have lots of them in my yard but with feral cats in my yard it isn't a good idea. Was there a pot of gold under your rainbow?
I think you did a great job with this photo! The rainbow and rain drops are clear; it's such a refreshing scene.
Oh, lovely! Your own little rainbow!
a raimbow for a pocket ;-)
This is so cool!
Glad you caught it while it lasted! Love the raindrops, too. I'm glad the devil wasn't laughing over your house for very long, though. HAHA!
Great photo! So glad you managed to catch the rainbow to share with us. About what your Granny told you, I grew up hearing that if rain fell while the sun was shining, the devil was beating his wife.
