I guess someone thought this oak tree branch needed a little extra support to keep it off the ground. Usually these long heavy branches are left alone and they end up resting on the ground or close to the ground and I think they look nice that way. This tree is located behind a coffee house near Lake Ella. Enlarge the picture to get a better look.

Full of harmony!Wonderful tree!
Thanks for so beautiful post!
HAve a great day my dear friend!
Léia
I've seen that!
Most other trees the limb would crack off or break off. I like the idea of resting on the ground too.
Thanks for your visit to my Pick a Peck of Pixels Blog and for your comment there about the squirrel. Pick a Peck of Pixels
helping hand..
You'd have thought they could at least have painted it and made it look nice.
That seems sort of dangerous to me. What if the branch becomes to heavy and the crutch breaks? Seems that we should let nature take its course and let the branch fall to the ground. There are a lot of trees like that around here too. I think they look nice.
Great catch! Glad someone took care of that branch.
It's a wonderful old tree. Maybe they should just let it do it's 'own thing'.
Sunny :)
it certainly is a big oak tree! they look so mysterious when they get that big - oh, the stories they could tell!
Lean on me, the tree way.
Pretty tree! I hope the crutch doesn't ever come loose and the whole branch fall on someone.
Oaks are so very tough. I wonder how old that one is.
Isn't this the tree you showed us a while back with some guy sleeping on the limb which was laying on the ground?
But don't knock, us oldies need all the help we can get!
No Jacob, that was a different oak tree in one of the downtown parks. This is the only one I've seen around here that has been propped up like that. I think it should have been left alone, but maybe there's a good reason for it!
Great advertising for bamboo! I'm glad I enlarged the photo or I would've missed some of your Spanish moss!
If you visit my recent post, you'll find yet another award I'm passing on to you. Have a great week!
I guess trees are just like the rest of us and they need a little propping up as they age.
It looks like a pretty huge limb, maybe their afraid it might fall on someone.
Nice picture Lois. I love big old oaks.
I did enlarge and I said, Wow!
It seems so touching to me: an old tree helped by humans...
:)
Everyone needs a bit of support every now and then! It's an endearing view.
That is a really cool tree you shared with us today.
Happy Summer !
