My grandkids and I bought one of those big watermelons last weekend and it sure was delicious. I might try the peaches this weekend.

We love watermelon at our house! I tried to grow some but didn't have much luck.

His sales seem a little slow. Tell your friends to visit his stand, too!

You sure you don't live in Spain??? I think I saw that photo's twin this morning, here in Barcelona!

I really appreciate this kind of road scenes but driving on the boring highways makes me wonder if they still exist here nowadays... I hope so!

Sounds great. I just had a peach, but I don't recall having any watermellon this week.

I better hurry. :-)

One of the things I look forward to most on my annual visits to Tallahassee is the fantastic Florida watermelons. When you hear that cracking noise as they split open, you know summer has begun. My favorites are the big striped melons with seeds. For me, the seedless varieties don't seem to be as crisp. So I was really disappointed this year to discover that all of the roadside vendors south of town were only selling seedless melons. I filled up on boiled peanuts instead.

Maybe he needs to advertise more. Maybe a sign that says "The Vegetable Dude" or something like that. Also Lois, I agree. Go with the peaches. :)

Those peaches look nice and big, the ones we get here really do not cut the mustard. I am always surprised by how nice the peaches in France are, so why cannot we get them here in the UK. I always try to give business to the small independant people.

Good luck! We've bought peaches and apples in a variety of places and they were all just awful!

One watermelon that wasn't too bad. Wasn't very good, either, though.

Maybe you have better stuff up your way.

Remember the song "Watermelon Man"?

It's always nice to buy local----and it tastes better too. MB

We have a lot of local farmers who set up their trucks by the road. I haven't stopped in a while ... maybe I should!
