Renovation

This stately old southern home on College Avenue near downtown Tallahassee is being renovated. I could not find out any history on this house. I have always liked the columns on the front. That brand new high rise condo building behind it provides quite a contrast. I prefer the old house myself. When they are finished with the renovation, I will try to post another picture.

I would guess the person who lived there had no money problems. It is also another guess that the renovation cost more than an arm and leg.

Hope your economic situation where you live in better than most other places.

You're right about the columns — they're amazing.

I like houses better than condos too, but I can understand why some people prefer them. My husband and I might just given in eventually. Maintaining a home isn't easy and the convenience of a condo can sometimes be tempting.

I also prefer the old house, it has a beautiful façade and I'm glad they are working on restoration.

It is always nice to know that some of the historical old buildings are being renovated and saved. I am glad you enjoyed the bird nests in the saguaro cactus on my site.

The high rise does look out of place, doesn't it? I would love to live in a huge old home like this!

Beauteous old buildings! About the gloves (seen in Clytie's Random Stuff), they're cheap Walmart one size fits all--with the tips of the fingers cut off with a pair of sissors. (grin) This time of year they're on sale, too.

These older buildings just have so much character...even though they are more difficult to keep up than a condo.

On the other hand, you don't have someone's TV blaring on the floor below you, or someone's dog barking on the floor above you, and you don't have a condo "Nazi" telling you that you can't put up a decoration on your door...

So, I vote for the house - and a beautiful thing it is!

Hey Mom! That house used to be a fraternity house when I was in college. It was really run down.
