These banners hanging in the Werkmeister Humanities Reading Room in Dodd Hall on the FSU campus are carried by representatives of the different colleges and schools during the processional at graduation ceremonies which are held at the end of each semester during the academic year. The students who are graduating during the ceremony walk behind their respective banner wearing their caps and gowns. I have been to two of these graduation ceremonies in the past few years, one for my daughter, who graduated from the College of Music and one for my son, who graduated from the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance. I was one proud Mama! I am happy to say that both of my kids are doing well in their chosen fields. My daughter is the band director at her old high school and my son is a graphic designer for the State of Florida.

You have good reason to be a proud Mama, Lois. My neighbours son went to FSU and said it is a marvelous school. Love the flags too! Great shot.
Bonjour Lois!
I have no doubts that you are very proud of your kids! Well done!Congratulations!
I love music and arts! I graduated in Fine Arts many years ago. I used to be an art teacher at primary school and music teacher for some years too. But time goes so fast !In fact sometimes we get different ways to follow. Nowadays I work like a director`s assistant of an international company ( executive secretary I could say ). Now my target is learning how to speak French! After that who knows about where this new knowledge can leave me…
Just a secret...I would like to teach kids again!
kind regards,
Léia :-)
They make a great contrast with the blue glass.
Those are beautiful banners. More importantly, you have good reason to be a proud mama! Congrats on your two wonderful children; I'm sure they are quite proud of their proud mama!
Yea for your kids! It sounds like they are both doing something they love.
I like graduations and all the traditions tied into them! May God continue to bless you and your family.
Florida has a state graphic designer? Cool! Your children sound like they have jobs that they truly enjoy — they're very lucky and you have every right to be a proud momma! :)
Congratulations on the success and happiness of your kids. It sounds like great memories. And in answer to your question, saguaro cactus are very, very tall. It is surprising. And when you think about how much they weigh, it is scary to stand next to them as they would crush anything underneath them if they fell. They are beautiful though.
icons that help one belong and identify!
