The Legend Retires

Bobby Bowden, the legendary head coach of the Florida State University football team, made the announcement yesterday that he is retiring from coaching after 34 years with the Seminoles. This might not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but to fans and alumni of FSU, it was truly a sad day. God bless you Bobby and thank you for all you have done for Florida State University. We will miss you. This bronze statue of Coach Bowden was created by W. Stanley "Sandy" Proctor and stands outside of Doak Campbell Stadium on the FSU campus in Tallahassee. To see the wonderful detail in this beautiful sculpture, please click on the picture to enlarge it.

B Squared--I totally agree! But as usual, Bobby handled it with class.

Wow--he seems to have the art of retiring gracefully. What a wonderful fellow.

Captured in action! Great sculpture. He said he wasn't going anywhere, so they must have made him an offer he couldn't refuse. But he sure did, as you say, do a lot for FSU!

This photo is nicely composed, Lois!

I find it cool that he got a statue even before he retired. He must truly be a very special coach and person.

34 years straight of doing anything is pretty amazing these days! I'm sure he will be missed!
