Auschwitz I inside exhibits
Jewish Prayer Shawls taken from prisoners.
Household items taken from prisoners.
Eyeglasses taken from prisoners.
Shoes taken from prisoners.
These are a few of the less horrific displays inside the blocks at Auschwitz I. There were other items I photographed that I do not feel comfortable posting. There were also areas inside and items that we were not allowed to photograph because they were too sensitive. I would never have chosen to photograph them anyway.

What happened here in WW2 is beyond imagination.
Um lugar de sofrimento.

I am sorry I didn't mean to upset you with my reaction. WW2 has always been a "subject" here. My mother in law fled in 1939 as a student in Vienna to the Netherlands leaving behind her parents who she hasnever seen anymore. She married my father in law who lost his parents too in the camps. So my husband never has had any grandparents.
...and how do people deny this?
The Nazis tricked Jews by telling them to leave their luggage and that it would be waiting for them when they arrived. Instead they stole anything valuable and of use while giving them false hope
the shoes and the eyeglasses are to sad for words
I have heard of some of the other things displayed there, so I do get a sense of why one wouldn't want to photograph or show it. It just breaks the heart to see.
Tough stuff.
This is all so sad! What terrible times those were. I was too young to appreciate how evil had spread so far and so fast. What's scary, though, is that Jew-hatred seems to be increasing in this country these days.
Thank you for these superb photograph reminders. We must never forget!
A very bad time in the history of mankind. Evil, hate and death, so tragic and sad.
Seeing the personal effects of the prisoners is devastating.
It horrifies me that some of #45's followers actually believe the Holocaust didn't happen. We have to believe that it can't happen again ✨
P.s. stay safe in the storms Lois ✨
We have to remember...
