Towle House
Built in 1847, this home was originally built for attorney Simon Towle, a member of the Whig Party, who served as mayor of Tallahassee and as state comptroller. A cotton planter named Richard Whitaker bought the house in 1854 and expanded it to include the second story and the columned front porch. Ownership changed several times during the 20th century and one of the owners reportedly found Confederate money in the ceiling. In 1976, the building was renovated to house the Florida Democratic Party Executive Committee as their headquarters until 2002. It was then purchased by a local law firm and carefully restored. Their offices are still located in the house.

A very pretty building!
A beautiful house. I like the green and white colours.
What a beautiful place! Looks so inviting and so antebellum. :)
A most lovely stately house this is, and the porch that's in front is my idea of what a porch should be. Open and welcoming, a place where one can sit and relax and share conversations and laughter. Lots and lots of it!

tis a beauty for sure.. I like to picture the people in that house back after the war..
Wow, what a gorgeous paean to the past. I'm a fan of such houses! And you can get political with me anytime! In fact, please do! And may Margo Largo sink into the sea!
This one is a real beauty. I can picture some southern belles standing on that porch.
