Chattahoochee

We do have some unusual names for cities here in my neck of the woods and Chattahoochee is located about 40 miles west of Tallahassee (hey, there's another one). This is their post office. I would show more examples, but I didn't feel like driving to Sopchoppy or Two Egg.

Linking to signs, signs.

I hope you'll get over to Two Egg one of these days! Funny names, indeed!

Unusual yes... but it makes for fun conversation.

Sopchoppy and ztwo Eggs..Really Lois, that's hilarious. I used to live in a suburb called Innaloo, I thought that was odd enough :)

It is a funny name to pronounce.

The funniest name around here is 'Tripalle', which literally means 'with three balls'...

I see ample room for confusion. "Two Eggs?" "No, there's only one."

We get to deal with the Withlacoochee down in these parts. :)

I'm reminded of the post office in the town nearest where I grew up.

I love the names like this one and our Caloosahatchie ... Guessing they are both from Native American tribal names. I just like saying them! Would love to know the history of Two Egg! ( I could Google it, but I'd rather wait until you write about it someday ;)))!

City or town names can be quite a hoot. We have many here also not to mention Humptulips or Snee-oosh with a road named Pull or be Damned. Whew!!

Very strange. Are they first nation words?

I think I am more interested in the post office; I am so happy that our country has a system that still works very well at reasonable costs.

Love the Indian name.

Kissimmee is the one I remember from grown up in Palm Beach. No one could ever say that one correctly. Now, the other two towns you mentioned after Chattahoochee are ones I have never known about. Funny names, indeed.
