Monday Mural

Located in the revitalized Gaines Street area near downtown, this 26-foot long ceramic mosaic presents an artistic interpretation and celebration of trees by local artist Susan Stelzmann, along with a poem by Mary Jane Ryals. Behind the wall is a live oak tree which is so big that it was impossible for me to get it all in the picture. The mosaic took nearly seven months to complete, with the artist hand crafting each separate tile.

This is absolutely beautiful and what a great poem! Thank you for sharing. Sometimes I forget how important trees are to the well-being of the planet and human life!

Impressive work. So relaxed looking yet so exacting in its medium. I'm sure people stop to read the poem and contemplate the mural. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
