Reporting for duty

I took this picture yesterday morning as I arrived for jury duty at the Leon County Courthouse. All of those people are in line to check in with the court clerk. I didn't get picked to serve, but it was an all day affair as I watched the process the judge and attorneys went through in order to seat a jury for a first degree murder trial. It was quite time consuming, but very interesting. I have now been dismissed and don't have to go back!

Relieved?

You mean they let you take pictures? Awesome! Still, I'd be wondering why I didn't make the cut.

I've always wondered what jury duty is like and why people dread it so much. Glad you found the process interesting!

Never made a jury yet. Too sketcy I guess.

That does capture the "hurry and wait" system of much of government. The same thing happened to me years ago in Ft. Lauderdale...all day and then didn't get called. I'm so old now, I don't get notices anymore!

And thank you for all of your delightful comments - they are very much appreciated! It's always nice to have you back posting regularly, too!

Oh my, I've never been called for a murder trial. The only time I made to the actual selection part, it was a drunk driving trial.

you did your duty but glad you were not selected.

I have mixed feelings about this: I know it is a duty and it might even be interesting, but usually it takes a lot of time... Thanks for taking this picture for us!

I would be relieved not to be!

I'd have had a knot in my stomach!

I was waiting for my turn in court one day (in a professional capacity, lol) and had a few hours to spare so went to have a look at proceedings at the Assises, the French criminal courts. Shudder...

Interesting day I presume, glad you didn't made it?

That would've been an interesting trial to serve on. I haven't been called for jury duty in a few years. I wouldn't mind.

Glad you got to go back to work! I did get picked for a grand jury once, and it was quite the education!

American judiciary looks very interesting. I think that is fair.
