Looking through to the other side

This stone wall runs along the street next to the sidewalk by Cascades Park. I like the way they placed windows in the wall so you can get a view of the park as you walk by. I guess the bars are there to keep people from climbing through. It's not quite a fence, but it serves the same purpose, so I'm linking up with Good Fences.

Cool composition. At first I thought it was a window in an old jailhouse! :)

Seeing through is always nice, but the bars are a reasonable option...

Yes the windows through the wall offer just a hint of the park but isn't that a great idea.

That is a neat idea! I normally don't think a view through bars is a pleasant view, but this one is!

The wall pre-dates the park; it was part of the wall around Centennial Field. The windows were always there, too. I'm not sure of their functions, but I had always assumed that they were ticket windows for baseball games and other events at the park. Florida State University's first football games were played at Centennial Field.

Thanks for commenting and explaining the interesting history on this wall Herb. I really appreciate it! Good to know they kept something so historic intact.
