Old Library Building

The David S. Walker Library is located on Park Avenue downtown and was named for the founder of the first library in Tallahassee. Walker also served as the eighth Governor of the state of Florida (1865-1868). The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and is now the home of Springtime Tallahassee, a civic organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the city's history. The organization also hosts an annual event celebrating the arrival of spring with a huge parade through downtown and many other fun activities. Springtime members raised the funds necessary to restore the building.

Now that seems like a more than appropriate way to use this wonderful old building Lois, ties in with the original use as a library perfectly!

A solid old gentleman with a fresh spring in his step as the home of a useful organization.

A building with dignity and substance. I laughed, though. Our eldest daughter dated a David Walker in Houston many years ago!
